What Will My Child Be Doing All Day?
Your child’s key person will plan enriching and exciting learning experiences to meet your child’s individual needs. They will observe and assess your child’s development and fully involve you at all times. Park Wood has adopted a child-centred approach and are always aiming to follow the interests and meet the needs of each individual child.

Your child will have a daily diary which will outline observations and records of activities and progress, based on the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The EYFS Framework encompasses six areas of Learning and Development which are:

  • Communication, Language and Literacy
  • Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
  • Knowledge & Understanding of the World
  • Physical Development
  • Creative Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development

The children also thoroughly enjoy physical education activities provided by qualified teachers completely free of charge.

Each individual child’s progress is carefully tracked, monitored and accessed throughout their time at Park Wood. Your Child’s Key Person will closely observe your child in order to plan the next steps in their learning journey and ensure the best possible provision is in place for them.

Your child’s learning journey is recorded in their ‘Learning Journal’. Usually, once a child is three, their development is then tracked and recorded on an individual profile and passed on to their school.
